Speaker Notes is a special section in your PowerPoint presentation slides. This section is used by the speaker to write and make notes. This part is kept hidden from the audience and can be seen only by the speaker. Speaker Notes is also referred to as Notes Pages.

Include relevant audio and video files into your presentation – You have the option of embedding audio and video files into your presentation at appropriate places. This way, you can play the media file directly from the slide. If you do not want to embed the files or if the format of the file is not compatible with PowerPoint, then you can put a comment into Speaker Notes to play the audio/video file from another source.

Make sure your designs are elegant, simple, and effective – Avoid all kinds of flashiness in your presentation. They annoy the audience no end. Dressing up your presentation slides is passé. Simple designs are trendy and reflect a professional profile.

  • Use sans serif text for the body as they are easy to read when they come up on the screen.

Do not fill your presentation with images – While images can keep the audience engaged and interested in the presentation, too much of images can be annoying. Use images prudently and sparingly. Use them only they have the potential to make your presentation better and can carry your message with added force.

Think of what effect your presentation will have if the image was not there. Will the image's absence dent your presentation? Will it make no difference to your presentation? Will it improve your presentation? Make an informed choice after thinking about the answers to these questions.

Include questions in your presentation – Questions pique interest, arouse the person being questioned to think, and can be a great audience engaging activity. Pose a question at the end of a slide. Give a few moments for them to think and then move on to the next slide.

Modulate your voice throughout the presentation – Especially in a lengthy presentation, take extreme care of not falling into the "drone" pit. Your voice can become extremely monotonous and uninteresting if you do not make that extra effort to modulate as often as you can. Keep a lively, interactive tone of voice.

Practice well before giving the presentation. Keep interesting and witty anecdotes ready to pull the audience out of an impending slumber. Include engaging activities such as question and answer sessions or short quizzes and more to keep the audience active and alert.
